The International Private Law Textbook (HKUM4304) aims to equip students with an understanding of international legal relations. Students are expected to solve legal issues arising from legal relations involving foreign aspects, highlighting the convergence between the national legal system and foreign ones. Students are encouraged to study and analyze legal nexus in legal issues incorporating foreign law as well as to evaluate a favored applicable law once there is a legal encounter between two or more different legal systems. By means of a review of case studies, jurisprudence, and expert opinions, students are guided to examine the current developments in international private law. Students’ mastery will be assessed through discussions, assignments, and case studies.
